Use the property’s formula, not a guessed one
RUBS can use occupants, square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms or a custom weighting system. Enter the same allocation units the property says it used. The calculator then checks the arithmetic of that simplified formula.
Ask for these inputs if they are missing
- The property utility expense or resident allocation pool.
- Any common-area, vacancy or other exclusions before allocation.
- The total allocation units in the pool.
- The allocation units assigned to your household.
- Any separate billing or administration fee.
What this calculator does not decide
It does not determine whether the allocation method itself is permitted, whether the inputs are accurate, or whether the lease properly authorizes the charge. Those are separate state, local, lease and evidence questions.
