Illinois Security Deposit Statements by Email

Illinois updated its delivery options so a covered itemized damage statement may be sent by electronic mail to a verified email address provided by the tenant, in addition to personal delivery or postmarked mail.

Keep proof of delivery

For a deadline dispute, preserve the email itself, headers or timestamps, the address used, and any evidence showing that the address was the verified address provided by the tenant.
